Big Impact

The choices we make in our homes echo beyond our walls, shaping the planet, our communities, and the lives of future generations—which is why we belive business can (and should) be a force for the collective good.

Our Product Philosophy

We’re innovating beyond plastic, which is why we approach all product development four core beliefs.

  • We believe in the power of innovation and the impact it can have on our families and the future of the planet.

From day one, we’ve been reimagining everyday cleaning to create products you can trust and afford to use over and over again—all without single-use plastic.

  • We believe that you shouldn’t have to choose between products that actually work and the health of the planet.

From your kitchen sink to your laundry room, we are committed to creating a higher standard of clean home products with materials and ingredients that are powerfully effective, safe-for-family, and planet friendly.

  • We believe that plant-powered, hard working products without any of the harsh chemicals.

  • We believe that sustainability should be a choice everyone has the ability to make.

So far, we’ve diverted over 1 billion single-use plastic bottles from landfills and oceans—and we’re just getting started.

Beyond the Products

  • People are what truly makes Blueland, Blueland. From the team members we hire to the manufacturers we trust to create our products, our newest purchasers to our day-one customers, we firmly believe that we are all in this movement together. That’s why we prioritize a balanced, positive, and sustainable work environment for all of our employees—one in which they feel empowered and able to thrive, both as individuals and as a collective—centered around diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

While we are always working to improve, we’ve overhauled our recruiting and interview processes to combat potential bias in hiring and we hold ourselves accountable as a Certified B Corp and with team engagement surveys. We also give each of our team members paid time off for political or civic engagement.

  • It’s important to us that business ethics to go beyond the walls of the HQ office, extending to our supply chain—engaging responsible manufacturing, enforcing fair treatment of workers, and reinvesting in natural capital. For that reason, we require all manufacturers of our tablets, powders and vessels to complete the UN Global Compact self-audit. We also require all of our final product manufacturers to have an up-to-date BSCI/SMETA audit completed by an approved third-party auditor.

  • Advocacy is in our DNA. Our packaging and supply chain process has always been single-use plastic free, but we want to see industry-wide change. That’s why we have and will continue to passionately fight for major businesses to take accountability for the environmental issues we currently face.

It’s also why we both actively support and involve ourselves with organizations—like Beyond Plastics and Surfrider Foundation—as well as pro-climate legislation, primarily the Pods are Plastic Bill and PRRIA.

The Pods are Plastic Bill aims to prohibit the sale, distribution, offer for sale, or possession for sale within New York City of any laundry or dishwasher detergent pods and sheets containing Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA)—a synthetic, petroleum-based plastic utilized in the packaging of single-dose laundry and dishwasher detergent pods and sheets.

If passed, the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (PRRIA) will reduce wasteful plastic packaging by 30% over twelve years and require companies to pay for the management and recycling of packaging waste rather than taxpayers—providing hundreds of millions of tax dollars in tax relief to New Yorkers.
