Blueland was featured in the 11th season of Shark Tank in 2019. Our Co-Founder and CEO, Sarah Paiji Yoo, along with our Chief Innovation Officer, Syed Naqvi, appeared in the episode and shared the concept of Blueland with the sharks. Sarah and Syed ended up accepting a deal from Kevin O'Leary, aka Mr. Wonderful, for $270,000 and 3% of the company with a $0.50 royalty until he made his money back.
Since then, Blueland has launched over 10 products for a range that now includes Laundry Detergent, Dish and Dishwasher Detergent, Toilet Bowl Cleaner, and Body Wash.
Yes! While Kevin isn't involved in the day to day operations of Blueland, Sarah still works closely with him and he occasionally makes appearances on our social channels :)
Since Blueland was founded in 2019, we've redesigned products from body wash to toilet cleaner, helping to divert over 1 billion single-use plastic bottles from our landfills and oceans. To learn more, take a look at the history of plastic, the life cycle of plastics, the throwaway culture it created, and the environmental impact it has had on our planet.
With over 40 patents, Blueland was the first company to create the category of refillable cleaning products and bring the tablet format to market. You can find Blueland products on Blueland.com, and nationwide at Target, Costco, Container Store, and Erewhon. A new home converts to Blueland and a plastic-free routine every two minutes and a Blueland product is purchased every 17 seconds.
Blueland is B Corp Certified, Climate Neutral Certified, Cradle to Cradle Certified, EPA Safer Choice, Made Safe Certified, USDA BioPreferred, EWG Verified and Leaping Bunny Certified.
Our commitment to changing one of the world’s biggest polluting industries led us to launch a Pods are Plastic campaign – a formal petition to the EPA to demand research on the impact of laundry and dishwasher pods wrapped in plastic and a request to have the plastic material removed from the Safer Choice List until further research is done.
The perfect way to start cutting out single use plastic from your home.
